To think that I lived long enough to see the access of legal cannabis is pretty thrilling.
And it’s not because I’m just so grateful to be stoned all day.
That’s far from my relationship with marijuana. Cannabis products are an essential part of my life but it goes deeper than that. There is something about sativa and indica strains that have healed and supported human beings for like three thousand years. There is an undeniable connection to sativa strains, in particular, for me. Cannabis products enhance, heal, shift and hone so much of my experience. And it doesn’t take much at all. But for most of my adult life, I had to hide that part of my life. Not only did I have to fly under the radar with my recreational marijuana use, it was illegal. Imagine that, a plant that grows so easily that it’s called a weed is also called an illegal drug. We should just all settle on calling cannabis products a gift from mother nature as far as I’m concerned. Thankfully, our culture has shifted a bit to see the absurdity of selling liquor but criminalizing cannabis products. And of course, money is part of the whole game as well. I’m not naive enough to know that if there wasn’t a tax revenue angle mixed with some corporate greed, those laws would have never changed. But that’s the way it is. I’m just going to be thankful that I can access the sativa and indica products that are important to me and the way I live my life.
