Medical marijuana may have saved my sister

My sister always had a problem with depression, when the two of us were kids, she spent most of her time alone in her bedroom, I tried to get her to come outside of the bedroom, but she sat in there alone and sad! She developed an eating problem.

She wouldn’t come downstairs to eat with the rest of the family.

My mom and dad were distraught. They took my sister to the doctor, but they truly didn’t get any help that would have made a difference. The doctor told our my mom and dad that my sister was depressed. They thought she was being a brat because she didn’t want to eat the food that my mom and dad cooked. None of those things were true. My sister had an actual medical problem that needed to be addressed. My parents failed my sister and so did all of the Health Care Professionals. I honestly think that if medical marijuana had been legal back then, my sister might have gotten the actual help that she needed. They could have prescribed medical marijuana to help with her depression, and the medical marijuana would have also helped with the eating disorder. Medical marijuana is often prescribed for eating disorders and depression. Marijuana is legal now, but it wasn’t many years ago when my sibling was sick and needed help. My sister was taken from me too early. If she would have had access to better medications and better doctors, then she might still be with me to this day. It’s hard not to think about that every time I see a picture of my sister.
