Opening a cannabis shop was easily one of the most difficult jobs that I have ever taken on.
- One of my old professors from college was hired to work for a medical and recreational marijuana company.
The guy learned a lot during his six years and he decided to leave the business to open a place of his own. He called me on the phone, because I have a degree in marketing. He wanted my expertise and he was willing to pay me a huge salary if I was willing to quit my job and help him with the marijuana dispensary. The opportunity was completely surprising and interesting. It was difficult to say no to the offer, so I didn’t. My wife wasn’t very happy that I turned down a really good job for a job in an illegal industry. The industry isn’t really illegal, but those were my wife’s words of choice. She never liked the professor when we were in college. She thought he was a hippie pothead. I guess now knowing the things that I do, that she was 100% right and the professor was a hippie pothead. I joined my friend for six months and the two of us had 12 hours of work every day for months. We had a lot of paperwork to fill out and a lot of decisions to make. Opening the cannabis shop was difficult, and it took every ounce of energy to see the project through. When we finished up, the professor offered me a full-time position if I wanted to stay. I absolutely said no thank you.
